The Library of Strengths

Greetings Beloved Ones!

Since I skipped two days, I am going to catch up and cover three lessons today. They are:"To thine own self be true, but what if you're the problem?"; "Your values are changing the world."; and "The library of strengths". Even though they are three different topics they are all talking about our values and how we use them or don't, how they benefit us, or not, and how we can deepen them in our lives.

Let's start with the fact that we may be the problem in our own lives. Well, duh! We always have something to do with what is happening in our lives. And the good news is that we can also change our perspective about what is happening in our lives. What do you need to change to bring more joy and happiness into your life? Think about it!

And, how great is it to know that our values are actually changing the world! It all starts with us changing our individual expression in the world. This is very to the popular phrase, "Be the change you wish to see in the world". So the work of world peace really does begin with us.

So it seems we gave to get more practice of building our values and actually using them. Review the list of values and choose one each day to work on!

The questions for today are:
. Are you confusing "what you do", with "who you are"? How can you bring more joy into your life while staying true to what really matters?
. What are the things that you will no longer accept or tolerate in your life
. Can others really cause us to do things that are against our values? Explain

Make it a valuable day!

Put Your Values To Work

Greetings Beloved Ones!

I apologize for not posting these past two days. I guess I was helping you practice some values like forgiveness, compassion, understanding, or any other positive quality. I am also being called to use them myself as this is the fourth time I have tried to post this message today! I will be setting up a different venue because ping is NOT it!!!!

Whenever we have trying situations, our values can come in handy if they are supporting us in gaining or having a different perspective. Do your values actually help you to shift your energy and experience? If not, why have them!

This experience with losing the blogs points out two different values for me; one is patience, and the other is wisdom. I am going to practice wisdom and make a change in the venue instead of thinking I have to stick with what we originated.

An action step can be to pick a value for the day and notice how often you use it or not; and note whether thar values is actually supporting you in shifting your consciousness.

Questions for the day are:
. What percentage of the qualities you value most do you use each day to make decisions?
. Do you practice, practice, practice using your values consciously?
Do you think we can borrow values from others and make them our own? How do we make them ours?
. We you are in an emotional quandary can you identify what value is needed to support you at the time and do you do that?

Well, I pray this goes though. Make it a great day.

Spiritual Values

Greetings Beloved Ones and Merry Christmas!

As we move into the holiday season celebrating the birth and life of the Christ, we are also celebrating the Christ Ideal within you! Wether we are aware of it or not, we are all here to express our Christ Consciousness and Nature.

Does that thought scare you? Does it engender the notion that you have to be perfect?. Well, thank God that is not true! What we are asked is to simply bring our true nature as spiritual beings into expression as naturally as possible.

Do you make a distinction between your spiritual life and your everyday ordinary life? Well, guess what? There is no difference! There is only life, and all of it is spiritual!

So the question for today is:
. How would describe your spiritual values, your work values, your social values, your family values?
. Do you see a difference between them? If so, share how you see them.

In the meantime have a very merry and blessed Christmas!!

Values are for everyone

Greetings Awakening Ones!

Here's a thought...."Whatever is most important to you, whatever is at the forefront of your mind, will inevitably be reflected in every decision you make, and in all your choices, actions and behaviors".

Sometimes what is at the forefront of my mind, is not what a say I really value, but what is most needed in that moment. I may be rushing so I rush to judgment, or I don't what to hurt someones feelings so I don't say what I want. The point is sometimes there is a disconnect between what moves us and what really matters to us!

The author suggests that we, "be real about" what matters to you. "know wants driving you.". Know what's "coloring" your life, "flavoring" your thinking. Only then can you discover if this is really
what you want!

So, the questions for today are:
. What matters most to you?
. Is this really what you want?
. What is your plan for changing it if there is a disconnect between what matters most to you and what is manifesting most in your life?

Love you all!

Off The page and into your life

Good Day Beloved Ones!

I love the title of today's lesson, "off the page and into your life." It implies action! You can't just talk about who you are you have to be who you say you are; you can't just say what you want to do, you have to do it, (Nike is right!). You have to be an "Action Hero"!

Our author says,"Values gain value only when you allow them to support you, when they shift the way you see a situation and respond to it.". Yes! Everything else is just lip service.

The questions for today are lengthy but well worth your time and effort if....you "value" your inner life.
So:
. What do you stand for?
. What would other people assume that you stand for, based on your actions, the decisions you make, what you talk about, how you organize your finances--especially the way you spend your time?
. What would you like to stand for?
. Are the values you believe you hold the same values you live out in your everyday life?
. What does your behavior say about your values?

Well, look deep and open wide!

The Cult of the Individual

Good Day Lovelies!

Me, Myself, and I, which one shall I serve? Well even though it is about us, it is not always about us! The best way to serve us is often times by serving others.

When reach beyond ourselves and touch or connect with others with love, an amazing thing happens, we expand! We are filled with more love, more energy, more joy, more of God's Goodness.

Our author says, "Our happiness depends upon how we treat other people; it's just that simple." so true! Don't you feel terrible when you have had an argument with someone, or treated the unfairly, or were just in conflict? Negative interactions don't feel good, plain and simple; and the opposite is also true, positive and loving actions feel wonderful!

So...why not treat everyone with loving kindness, (even those you don't care for).

Action Step: Perform at least one act of kindness today!

Our questions for the day are:
. How do you care for others in your life?
. What was the last act of kindness you engaged in?
. What do you feel when you serve others?

Make it a kind and generous day, give of yourself!

What do you stand for?

Greetings Beloved Ones!

There's no knowing "who you are" until you also know "what you stand for". When I ask people what it is they value I life, I usually get the commonly and socially acceptable answers like, love, kindness, honesty, etc.

We all want to have the values society says we ade supposed to have, especially if we want to be seen as a "good" person. The more appropriate question is whether we are conscious of the values that are actually driving us and causing us to have the experiences and reactions we do.

The questions for the day are:
. What do you stand for?
. What are the values that drive/move you to act a certain way? (examine all your actions not just the ones you like)
. Are they life-enhancing? Do they include other people's interest and needs as well as your own?
. Are your values taking you where you most want to go?
. Are your values your own? Or have you borrowed them from other people?

Action Step: Notice your actions and reactions today and identify your values that influenced your actions.

Make it a great day!

When it's Love you are seeking

Good Day Beloved Ones!

When Tina Turner asks, "What's Love got to do with it?" we say, everything! We are all seeking love, albeit in different ways, but we are on the hunt for love none the less. However, before you go looking for love in all the wrong places, why not start with yourself!

The author states, "we need to treat ourselves lovingly, or at the very least, kindly and respectfully, when it's lo e that we are seeking. And, one way of another, it is always love that we are seeking even when we call it "approval", "attention", or "affirmation".

So, before we seek approval, attention, or affirmation from others we want to make sure we are seeking it or valuing it for ourselves.

The questions for today are:
. Are you aware of how you seek approval, attention or affirmation? For yourself and from others?
. How do you value your: physical existence, your intellectual existence, your spiritual existence, your emotional existence, and your social existence?

Make it a valuable day

Actions Speak

Greetings Beloved Ones!

Well, I just lost two postings this morning and in thought they were great. I guess the universe wants me to take the lesson on action to heart! I truly wanted to scream and act out but the message foe today is ringing in my head.

The author gives us another powerful statement to ponder: "Through our behavior, we live out our deepest and most truthful feelings about ourselves."

While it is true that what you do speaks loudly about you, it is also true that we can all put on a good show and "do" the right things outwardly but still feel empty inwardly! What are you doing that gives you meaning and fulfillment? How are you treating yourself by doing or not doing what you desire? What are the promises you made to yourself that we are not keeping? The answer to all of these questions will tell you whether you see being kind and true to yourself or not.

The questions for today are:
. What do you want to do differently, more of, or better in your life? And, more importantly what is your PLAN for doing it?
. Is there something that you do regularly that could be considered "self-sabotage"?
. Think about a situation that caused you to feel anxious, shameful, disconnected, or empty; how did you reconnect back to values that were more loving and appreciative of yourself?

Action Step for today: Do a little less talking and a lot more doing!

Well, I am off to honor my promises to myself!

Make it an fulfilling day!

Walking The Talk

Greetings Beloved Ones!
Our author states, "The best way to discover what your values are is to look closely at your behavior. Your behavior is the only true measure of your values. Everything else is wishful thinking."

Now that is deep and oh so true! We often talk a good game but when it comes time to actually do what we say, we fall short. We can fool ourselves with all of our talk because it sounds so good to us and others. But, the proof is in the pudding!

The questions for today are:
. What can you hear yourself saying but not see yourself doing?
. What are your consistent behaviors telling you?
. Is there anything that needs to change? And how will you actually go about changing it?
. Is there anything standing in the way between your commitment or desire, and your action?

Ok Beloveds, if you sign up, show up!

Make it a great day,

Closer Than You Know

Greetings Awakended Ones!

Well, we have covered the first chapter of the book, "Choosing Happiness - Life and Soul Essentials"; and if you have been keeping up and doing all of the exercises, then, "you are closer than you know"!

"Only habits of thought stand between you and the person you long to be or the life you long to create"! That is a powerful statement and so true. The only thing I might add is that you must also act upon the positive and life fulfilling thoughts that you establish in your consciousness.

The questions for the day are:
. If you want to change something about your self
or your life, can you identify the thought/s you must change? Write the thought out and turn it into an affirmation that you can use daily!
. Is the current path you are on making you happy or fulfilling you on a soul level?
. How do you stay motivated to live the life you
want?

Action Step:
. Make a list of what you want to change in your life and write a personal manifesto!

Make it a soul satisfying day!

Use Friendship as your guide

Good Day Friends!

In the olden days, Unity people would greet one another as "Friend". I still use the phrase in my talks from time to time. We all need friends. They round out our feelings of well being and offer support just by being our friend.

The questions for the day are:
. Who is your best friend? (if you didn't name yourself consider why.)
. What is your definition of friendship?
. Do you see the universe as a friendly place?( If yes, how so?)

Make it a friendly day!

Trust your Intuition

Greetings Beloved Ones!

There is an old song that says, "I have a feeling everything is going to be alright!". Have you ever wondered where those "feelings" come from? And can you really trust them!?

Thank God, we all have an intuitive component to our makeup. However, we may not rely upon it or trust it's validity very often. That may be because we have not developed it or given ourselves plenty of avenues for it expression. We usually go to outside sources first, or we distrust our own knowing.

It is time to free up our minds; to unlock the inner wisdom within. And, to do so on a regular basis. The more we allow our creative and inspired juices to flow, the more our intuition will grow.

Here are some Action Steps:
. Allow yourself some time to just let your mind drift. (sort of pitting for the mind).
. Journal whatever comes to mind
. Try writing for five minutes without taking your pen off of the paper.

The questions for the day are:
. How do you tell the difference between your ego's voice and your higher voice? And is there a difference?
. How do you hear the voice of God or Spirit?
. How do you still your mind and listen to the voice within that is connected to your Higher Self or Spirit?

I have a feeling that everything will be alright! Make it a great day!!

Body, Instincts And Expectations

Good Day Wondefful Ones!

How are you living? Do you know what you need on the subtle level of life? Are you connected to what your body is saying it needs? Are you aware of your body's inner signs and signals for attention?

The author says, " A disconnected life is not loving". We are not loving ourselves when we disregard our internal or physical cries for help. It is time to tune in!

The questions for today are:
. Are you in touch with your own inner wisdom and body awareness? Can you hear what your body is saying to you?
. Do you remember learning to distrust your body as a child? ( ex. When you may have expressed to a parent or adult that you were "hot" and they commented that you weren't because it was not that hot outside!)
. Are you able to connect your body's signals with an emotional need or your state of mind?

Action Step: Today, notice what your body is feeling throughout the day AND, connect it to your emotional state at the time or what you may be needing. Or, notice your emotional state first and then see how it is registering in your body!

Make it a great day!

Being, not Doing

Good Day Awakened Ones!

Time.....it is such an elusive quality. We all want more of it and when we have it, we still seem to need more. However, have you known people who seem to accomplish so much more in a day than seems possible? Yet, we all get the same twenty-four hours in a day.

With all that we must do in a day with our nosy schedules it seems challenging to be able to take some take some time for yourself....but, that is exactly what we must cultivate as a habit and as a priority for ourselves.

The questions for today are?
. What level of time management would you say you possess, and is there néed for improvement and if so, what will you do about it.
. Do you seem to " waste" time during your day?
. What moves you to a state of joy and can you incorporate it into your life on a daily basis?

Action Step: Notice how and where you spend your time. Keep a log of today's activities and record how much time was devoted to each activity. Reflect at the end of the day and access "was it well worth your time"!

Make it a great day!

You are not a robot

Good Morning Awakened Ones!

Have you been living your life on auto-pilot? Doing doing doing? Well you are a human "being" not a human "doing"!

We all need to slow down a bit and take time to truly engage in life. Talk with your loved ones, play with your child, take the dog for a long walk, sit on a park bench, anything that allows you to spend time with yourself or with those you value, or doing what brings you joy.

The questions for today are:
. What is your life or your body telling that you need right now?
. What do you think will happen if you just say "no" to some important request for your time and
efforts?
. How do you pace yourself?

Make it an easy day!

Love your body(silence your complaints)

Greeting Beloved Ones!

We have often heard that we are Spirit, Soul, and Body. We usually get the spirit and soul part easily but have a slight challenge with the body part.

Haven't you looked in the mirror and thought, "oh my god, who is that?" Well it was you!

While we are working on the development of our Spirit, and Soul, let us not forget to include the Body! This is the vehicle that makes your existence in form possible.

I know I have some work to do since my body has undergone dramatic changes and I never wanted to gain too much weight. Well I not only have expanded my consciousness but my physical expressions as well. Now to learn to love it all is the key!

The questions for today are:
. Do you love what you see when you look in the mirror?
. What changes would you make to your body based on "sell-love"?
. Action Step: spend five minutes praising and thanking your body for carrying you this far!

Blessings,
Rev. Sylvia

The problem with self-love is.....

Greetings Beloved Ones!

Wow, we are still on the topic of self-love so it must really be important to our well being and spiritual growth! I want to ask, "what's love got to do with it"? Well apparently a lot!

We are so willing to criticize ourselves, point out our flaws and imperfections but.....we are not so comfortable with truly expressing and affirming self-love. Self-love is not the same as self-respect, self-esteem, self-centeredness, self-absorbed, or selfish. But what is it?

The questions for today are:
. What is self-love?
. What is the difference between self-acceptance and self-centeredness?
. What does loving your neighbor as yourself, mean?

I love you all!
Rev. Sylvia

Afraid of self-love

Greetings Beloved Ones!

So let's talk more of self-love! I think it is safe to say that it feels easier to offer love to others than it does to offer it to one's self. We will easily compliment someone but have a challenge accepting other's compliments of us. Why is that?

I believe it has to do with worthiness issues, and lack of acceptance of our true beauty and talents. We might not want to come off as conceited, cocky or self absorbed. However, if we are going to be lovers of life and others, we must begin by loving and truly appreciating ourselves.

The questions for today are:
. How do you tenderly love and care for yourself?
. How do you usually respond when other compliment you? Are you really comfortable?
. How do you affirm or value yourself?

Action step:

. Write a positive affirmation about your worthiness!

Make it a love filled day!

Looking for Love

Good Day Lovelies!

Been looking for love in all the wrong places lately?
Well who hasn't at least once in their life. Love....We write about it, talk about it, sing about, and long for it. Yet for some, it seems elusive or unattainable or we only want it in a particular form.

The foremost place to look for love is within and with yourself; then you will be better able to love others.

The questions for the day are:
. What are your emotional needs? Do you know?
. Do you love yourself? Unconditionally?
. Are there areas of feelings of unworthiness that need to be addressed?
. Are you comfortable receiving love from others?

Well dear ones, have a lovely day!

The Ultimate Gift

Greetings Precious and Beloved Ones!

I have often quoted the familiar saying that, "Life is God's gift to us, but...what we make of our lives is our gift to God!". While that has a ring of truth to it, let's consider the fact that we have life at all, is the gift.

Life is indeed precious and sacred and fun and full! The key is to take all of it, the good, the not so good, the ups and downs, the twists and turns, and love it all!

Take who you are and love it all! The good, the
perceived not so good, the beautiful and lovely parts and the deep not so lovely hidden parts, and love it all! Oh, if we could but offer Love and Grace to ourselves unconditionally, how different our sense of self would be. We would actually feel free and happy! It is time to simply love life! And, to love ourselves Uncontionally!!

The questions for the day are:
. Are you loving life? How? What is your favorite thing about life?
. What would loving yourself unconditionally look like?
. What is the gift you are giving back to God?

Lov'in it All,
Rev. Sylvia

Calm the inner chatter

Good Day Beloved Ones!

Yak Yak Yak!! Sometimes it seems there is always a conversation going on in our head. Not the "still small voice" either, but the one that never shuts up! You know the one that is stuck on the woulda, coulda, shoulda's!

It has been said that God works in the stillness! That being true, then it seems we need to get to that place of stillness often so the we can hear that higher voice offering guidance, peace and comfort.

The questions for the day are:
. How do you overcome anxiety and worry?
. How do you calm the constant chatter of your mind?
. What is your favorite way to connect with Spirit?
. How does Spirit communicate with you?

Be Still and Listen,
Rev. Sylvia

How to soothe yourself

Good Day Beloved Ones!

Hope you had a great day giving thanks yesterday! Don't stop now, it is a great habit to have. It reminds you of all the good you do indeed have.

So often when we forget our blessings, we can fall into states that do not serve our highest good. We may panic, become overwhelmed, stressed out, and the like. The key is to be able to quiet the mind of the disruptive and distructive emotions. We have to be able to soothe oursrvlevs so that we can access that which will be highest and best for us, those God thoughts and guidance!

Whatever arises, tell yourself,"I can deal with it"! Those simple words are powerful. They let you immediately move into a higher more confident state. Keep repeating those words as often as you need to, evenly you will begin to relax and see whatever is yours to do from a clearer perspective.

The author gives a wonderful process for soothing ourselves so be sure to read today's lesson. In the meantime, the questions for today are:
. What extra stress is happening in my life right now? What would help me deal with this stress? Who could I talk to about this?
. Who do you soothe yourself?
. How would the wisest person on earth deal with the situation?

Make it a great day. Remember, "you can deal with it!"
Blessings,

A Stranger to Yourself

Greetings Beloved One, and Happy Thanksgiving!

I hope you spend some of the day with family or friends, but if not, then enjoy and be thankful for the time to be "with" yourself!

We live in a world that is so fast paced and filled to the brim with daily activities that we often lose our connection with our selves; we become as the author states, "a stranger to ourselves". When we feel drained and our well has run dry, it is hard to feel the aliveness of life and spirit. No doubt this can lead us to feelings of emptiness, detachment,
loneliness, and a sense of alienation from ourselves.

We must take care of ourselves! We are all we have and we are truly worth it! So......

The questions for today are:
. What do I need right now for my heart and soul?
. What am I neglecting?
. What outer changes do I need to make that will be beneficial for my soul's growth?

Being thankful for you!

Loneliness: The way out

Greetings Precious Ones!

Wherever I go, there I am! This is usually thought of in terms of getting away from our limited or negative habits or perceptions. However, we can also use it as a reminder of the positive notion of being "with" yourself in a good way; enjoying your own company.

However the flip side to remember is that we are by nature also social beings. We need one another and can thrive in the company of others. We get to laugh, cry, and share the joys and sorrows of life. Others can help us to feel alive and connected!

The questions for today are:
. What habits are keeping you more isolated than you want to be?
. What sources of friendship or companionship could you develop?
. What is it that you would like to offer more freely to other people?
. How could you become an even better companion for yourself?
. How will you care for your spiritual needs on a regular basis?

Reach out and touch someone today. Make a connection!
Blessings,
Rev. Sylvia

Loneliness

Greetings Beloved Ones,

Here's a thought to ponder, when you are alone, are you "by" yourself or are you "with" yourself? I remember making a comment to a friend apologizing for the fact that they had to go somewhere by themselves; she quickly corrected me and said, "I am not going by myself but with myself!. I am never by myself but always with myself and I enjoy my own company".

I love that thought, it helps me to remember that while I enjoy being with and around others, I can also enjoy being with myself. Yet, as the author suggests, there are those times when we may feel lonely, even in the midst of others. We may hunger for something and not really know exactly want it is.

The questions for today are:
. Have you ever felt that something was missing in your life? What did you do about it?
. What do you do when you feel lonely?
. Have you ever felt depressed, or disconnected, or distant from what was happening around you?
. How do you know when you are "by" yourself or "with" yourself?

With you always,
Rev. Sylvia

Maybe he won't call

Greetings precious ones!

He loves me, he loves me not; I wonder if she thinks I'm cool; if I get this promotion then I will get the respect I deserve; I never get noticed, etc.

So often questions like those indicate how often we give others power over our our sense of self. We also fall into the habit of thinking we are the center of the universe and that everything is happening to us. As our author states, "it takes a great deal of you to see the other person's action may have very little to do with you....the point is that when someone else's action or decisions undermine your entire sense of self, you have given away your power!"

The questions for today are:
. Have you ever given away your power?
. How do you or have you taken it back?
. When something goes wrong, how do you not blame another or make them the bad guy, while still maintaining your sense of self and intrinsic value?

Have a blessed day!

Talking to and about yourself

Greetings Beloved Ones!

You know, I call you beloved ones to remind you of who you are. Doesn't it feel good to hear those words? There is power in the spoken word! Your words will assist in creating your experience; they will affect your state of mind and color your perspective. They will either strengthen or weaken your consciousness so you must chose them wisely.

Are you building yourself up or are you tearing yourself down with your words; with your mental chatter? Are you boxing yourself in with words like can't, should, must, have to, won't? Are you using yours words to reflect your positive choices, desires and visions?

The Action Steps for today is: listen carefully to yourself; notice how you talk to and about yourself; notice how you talk to and about others.

The questions for the day are:
. What negative or limiting words have you said about yourself that you need and want to get rid of?
. How do you practice to rid yourself of these negative words?
. Do you use Denials and Affirmations regularly? If so, what is your process? If not, why?

Here is the author's reminder:
"I can trust myself. Other people's opinions are driven by their needs and emotions - not by magical insights about my worth."

This sounds like a great affirmation to use when the inner negative voices take over your consciousness.

Make it a great day. Whisper words of kindness!

What is right about yourself

Good Day Beloved Ones,

We have a saying in Truth that encourages us to "see the good" in others or ourselves, or the situation. Often it is easier to see the good in others than it is to see it within ourselves.

We have a tendency to see what is wrong, what's not working well, or what is not right. We need to be able to call upon the wonderful things about us and remember our good qualities. This will serve us well when we are in the midst of one of those days when things are challenging.

So the Action Step for today is to list 10 things that are right about you!

The questions for today are:
. When things go wrong, how do you encourage yourself?
. What is right about you?
. What is right about your day? (if you are just getting your day started, then recall what was right about yesterday?

Make it a good day!
Love ya!

Trustworthy for others also

Greetings beloved ones!

Trust is such a valuable thing. Once it is gone or betrayed it is so challenging to gain again. Yet, it is also so fragile when placed upon people because people are subject to error whether consciously or unconsciously.

We may not mean to hurt another, or disappoint, or fall short of the mark in another's eyes but it happens. While we cannot control other's thoughts or perceptions, we can think about our own trustworthiness.

Our questions for the day come from our author who suggests we journal about them or share them with a trusted friend. They are :
. Who is the most trustworthy person I know? What qualities does that person have? How do I see them lived out? Do they have any qualities that I want to develop within myself?

. Can I be trusted to be relatively reliable in mood and reactions? Do I valie that kind of
trustworthiness in other people? If people k ow they can rely on me to be even-tempered and generous-minded, how would this support my relationships and the way that I experience myself?

Well sweet peas, I trust you will have a great day!

The World Beyond Ourselves

Gooday Friends!

It seems all this work we are doing on gaining self-knowledge does indeed have a purpose. We are not only trying to wake up so that we may live life more consciously and be at peace within ourselves but that we can also live in peace with others; after all, we must live in relationship to and with others.

The author says, "the more clearly we can see our own inner conflicts, contradictions and inconsistencies, the less harm we will cause y projecting them onto other people. Likewise, the more clearly we can see our strength and aptitudes, the more delight we will have in living and the more positively we will influence and affect other people."

All this self-knowledge will help you to become comfortable with yourself or at least knowledgeable enough to make the changes you desire and create more ease and grace in your relationships.

The questions for today are:
. In what instances does knowing yourself give you stability? How has it helped you?
. What is your process for bringing yourself to a state of inner peace when in the midst of conflict?
. How do you determine your strength and weaknesses?

Enjoy the world beyond yourself!

You are not the center of the Universe

Greeting beloved ones!

I apologize for the late posting! I hope you didn't think it was anything you did! If so, today's lesson is just for you!

You are not the center of the universe! What!!! That is news to me, I thought we were responsible for all that happens to us. Well, the truth is we are responsible for what happens within us!

Today's lesson is to remind us to be kind and gentle with ourselves and others and to make no assumptions about why others do what they do. It is not always for the reasons we think. If younmusf know, then ask and hope you will get an honest answer about what is going on with them.

Today's action step is to check out your assumptions!

The questions for today are:
. If everything is not about you, who is it about?
. When a situations occurs do you automatically put yourself in the middle if it; worrying about how you will be viewed; or why people are hurting you, ignoring you, blaming you, faulting you, attacking you, or whatever "to you"?
. What makes you feel it is about you?

If you are not at the center of the universe, I wonder who or what is?
Have a great day!!

Your effect on other people

Good Day Wonderful People!

Have you ever heard the saying " What you think of me is none of my business!". If only we really believed or took that to heart. We are usually very concerned with what others think about us or how they treat us or how they interact with us.

The author asks us to consider the opposite; to consider how "we" affect other people. What is your body language saying? What does your tone of voice say? What is your capacity for restraint? How do you lift the spirit of others? All good questions! Think about them!

Our questions for today are:
. Are you aware of how your words affect other people?
. When was the last time you used restraint in your response to someone else? How did it feel?
. How can you exercise more positive choice when interacting with others?

Observe how you affect others today and wake up!

The Big Picture

Good Day Soaring Ones!

How high can you go? Well it is truly up to you!

We are meant to soar like eagles! Yet sometimes we live like chickens, clucking and plucking at all the little things and forgetting that we can rise
above the minutia. We obsess about the 10% that is not going so well and we forget about the 90% of our lives that is fulfilling and meaningful. We need to see the Big Picture!

The questions for today are:
. Why does the "Big Picture" look like in your life?
. What is most important for you to be doing in your life right now?
. If your life were captured on film would you or anyone else want to watch it? Why?

Hey, the view from the top looks great! Enjoy it!

Love and Light,
Rev. Sylvia

The Common Denominator

Good Day Insightful Ones!

The strangest thing happens to me everyday, "wherever I go, there I am"!

"You are the common denominator in every relationship and every situation that creates your life". I guess this is why the author has us doing so much work initially looking at and into ourselves. All of the patterns, the reactions, the thoughts, the emotions, the behaviors, etc. all have a reference point that begins with us and if we hide from ourselves or deny certain parts, or remain unconscious, we cannot awaken to what drives us; healing and transformation are then delayed.

The questions for today are:
. Are you aware of how you drive or influence relationships and situations in your life?
. Where should you be looking at as it relates to events that happen in your life that see, to pose a challenge for you?
. What gifts from your own existence do you share with others on a daily basis?

For Extra Credit: Be aware of what you pay attention to; how you fill your time; how you nourish your mind; how you engage with the world around you; how enthusiastically welcome each new day; what you identify with most strongly; what gives your life its shape, meaning, and purpose, and what are you giving to others.

Wherever you go, there you are! Make it a great day!

Oops

Sorry, I pinged before I was ready.

Reflecting involves attaining meaning and gaining real insight into your situation or experiences or behaviors. Today's exercise requires you to engage in a journaling excerice. The author suggests you reflect on the following questions and journal about them:
. What is familiar here? Is there a pattern?
. What were your intentions in this situation? What were you hoping for or wanting?
. What actually happened?
. How might this have looked from the perspective of whoever else was involved?
.what can you see now that you didn't then?
. What would you do more of, or less of another time.?

Happy reflecting!
Rev. Sylvia

How to reflect

Greetings awakened ones!

Today's lesson is very helpful if you have a habit of going over things in your mind over and over and over again. While reflection is valuable to our growth, our author makes a great distinction between "reflecting" and "renuminating".

Renuminating merely amounts to looking back and beating yourself up or aimlessly going over what
you should or should not have done. Reflecting involves attaining meaningful insightsnand understanding

All your experiences can turn to gold!

Greetings Life Weavers!

Yes, you are weaving and spinning your life into gold! Every experience carries something of value. In Unity we say, "Look for the Good, and praise it!". Meaning there is some good in every situation, every experience and every condition. We need only to take the time to look for it. And when we find it to focus on that.

Questions for the day are:
. When was the last time you learned something from an experience? What did you do with that learning?
. Take a minute and think about you life. Do you tend to evaluate your setbacks and see what part of it you are responsible for or.....do you lay blame primarily on others?
. How do you usually handle grief, loss, sadness or disappointment? What insightsnhave you gained from them?

Have a peaceful day!

Mistakes and Opportunities

Good Day Precious Ones!

Isn't it great to know that we are loved unconditionally by God?! If we truly know that then it is easier to take a good and honest look at what may be driving us without our knowledge or conscious thought. After all hoe often do we acknowledge our "Shadow" side? Do we see those not so positive behaviors or traits?

We all make mistakes from time to time. Can we own them? We all exhibit poor behavior from time to time. Can we see it? We have all made errors in judgement from time to time. Can we see it and learn from it?

The author provides some powerful examples of our disowned behaviors. Your action step for today is tho review her list and circle those behaviors you identify with.

Our questions for the day are:
. What is your first response when you make a mistake? And when others make a mistake?
. Can you identify some of you "Shadow" traits or behaviors?
. How often are you able to treat mistakes as opportunities?

Let YourLight Shine! Remember the light casts out all Shadows!!!

Have a Lightfilled day!

The Choice is yours

Greetings Beloved Ones!

Ok, this is something that we all know to be true; it is a well known and common thought in new thought circles and that is: The Choice is Yours!

everything is a choice but the challenge is that we are not always conscious of that when we are making them; or we are habitual in our responses.

What if we developed the habit of saying at every
opportunity, "This is a choice I am making"! If we could some how consciously claim it I believe we would stand a better chance of waking up. Let this be your action step for today: Affirm repeatedly throughout the day, "This is a Choice I am making"!

The questions for the day are:
. How can you live your life with greater trust and confidence?
. How do you take responsibility for your own happiness?
. What is your current state of life telling you about the choices you have made?

Choose to make it a great day!

When things go wrong (and they will)

Greeting Beloved Ones!

Often times people say that we Truth Students are Pollyanna's, or that we don't deal with reality, or that we wear rose color glasses. Not so! We just try practicing seeing the good in the situation.

There are times however when things may feel overwhelming. We may not feel in control of the situation or our emotions. Yet, even in those situations we have a choice as to how we will respond. I only wish I could remember that when I am in the midst of the situation!

I love the two questions the author poses when she is faced with a challenging situation: "what does this situation need?" or "what does this moment need?". Just asking those questions brings you back to your strengths!

Your action step for today is to ask that question throughout the day, in every situation and encounter!

Our questions for today are:
. What do you do when faced with an overwhelming or situation? Or some tragedy?
. How do you wake up your inner strenghs?
. How do you know when to hold on and when to let go?

Be Abundantly Blessed!

You are responsible for your own happiness

Greetings Beloved Ones!

Are you having fun yet!? Well if not, it is up to you! You are the source of your own happiness. We all know this but yet we at times find ourselves expecting others to make us happy, or we simply get upset if they don't.

Here is your action step: Take back your expectations! When you do, you empower yourself; you determine what kind of life you will live and how you will feel in any situation..

The questions for today are;
. Do you have any expectations of others? Look deep.
. How do you react when others treat you unfairly?
. What fear do you want to release?

Have an awakened day!

The Power of Presence

Greetings Committed Ones!

We all know the saying, "Wherever I go, there I am!". Well, wherever we go we also bring bit and pieces of ourselves to others. How we are with others has an effect on them.

Action steps for today:
. Listen the tone of your voice when you speak to others.
. Demonstrate kindness to someone

The questions for today are:
. How do you know when you are present in the moment?
. What stops you from being present.
. What do you do when you are not in a great mood and you have to be around others?

Remember, your presence speaks about you!

Be honest and be awake!

Challenge a Familiar Pattern

Ok, now the fun begins! We are asked to challenge a familiar pattern; something you do consistently and it does not serve you well.

I love the idea the author offers of "borrowing" a positive trait or a strength you have, to work through the pattern. Outline in detail what qualities you would need to more effectively handle your pattern or reaction. She says, "tell yourself I can react less defensively and more creatively and here's how I am going to do it."

So in addition to following the process outlined in the book, consider today's questions as well:
. What are some ways you have used to challenge a familiar pattern of behavior that you may have exhibited in the past?
. How did it work out?

Have a Freeing Day!

Look For Patterns

Well friends, today's lesson should be fairly easy. We all have habitual ways in which we respond to certain situations; especially those situations or experiences that carry some type of emotional charge.

The author says, "patterns let you know that you are responding less to whatever is going on outside yourself and more to your own habits and assumptions". Hmmmm, assumptions! They will get you every time!

The questions for the day are:
. How do you react when someone asks you to do something you don't "feel like" doing or when they criticize you?
. When you meet someone with whom you might possibly get involved, do you always tell yourself how unlikely it is that things could work out well?
. Are you constantly defending your actions in your own mind?
. Do you feel taken by surprise when things go really well?

Have fun journaling!
Abundant Blessings

The Self I am and the Self You See

OK Wonderful Ones! Today's lesson is full of good stuff! It is our goal to be our authentic selves! We all want the simplicity of just being our selves, not having to fake it, mask it, or deny it! Yet I bet it is safe to say that most of us are fearful of letting people see all of who we are or what we are feeling at any given time.

You might want to journal the author's questions to see what you can uncover about yourself. In the meantime, the blog questions for today are:
. What is the single biggest attitudinal change you would like to make when you are with other people?
. Who am I when no one else is around?
. How can you be more suthentically yourself? And what is the biggest risk or fear you have of being totally yourself ?

Remember, God loves you!

What you gain by understanding yourself better

Wow! Today's message is just for me. Yesterday I had an incident that had me reflecting upon my response. I discovered that i have deeply rooted core values and beliefs about how I will approach ministry. When I am faced with the prospect of being out of alignment with my credo, it causes a strong reaction within me. Knowing this about myself is very helpful when I witness my reactions.

The action steps for today are to answer the questions our author poses. They are quite powerful. So bring a situation to mind and apply these questions:
. What do I want to achieve in this situation?
. What message is my behavior giving to other people?
. Do my actions match and reflect my intentions?
. What is needed here?
. What would make a positive difference?
. What can I bring to this situation?

Well, it is time to look deep!

Be Blessed and Wake Up!

No one knows you better than you know yourself

Greetings Awakened Ones!

Well it seems we are circling back again to ourselves to take a look once again.

I love the truth that no one knows us better than we know ourselves. Yet haven't we also adopted some of the opinions and assessments of others? We may have done it so much that we no longer trust our own knowledge of who we really are.

Now is the time to take back our identity and values!

The questions for the day are:
. What do you know about yourself that few people know (keep it positive) :)
. What are your special talents?
. What are your core values?

Action Step: write a positive affirmation about yourself and state it throughout the day.

Love and Light,
Rev. Sylvia

What will you find?

Greetings Awakened Ones!

Yes, we have armed upon the journey of self knowledge and yes it can be a bit challenging; especially if you really do the work and look deeply.

The reason that you have been asked to journal daily is to allow the subconscious mind to bring out your deepest thoughts, insights, desires, and dreams.

Do not be afraid to see yourself! All of us have the full range of human potential and human flaws, the key is to shed light upon them so that you can consciously choose which ones serve you best. This is Life Mastery!

The questions for today are:
. What did you want to be when you grew up? Did you accomplish that dream?

. What will you regret not doing in your life if you continue as you are now?

. What is your legacy?

Remember your strengths and your passions and put forth the effort to develop them, embrace them and keep them in your heart; they will give you life!

Shine On!

How do you see yourself

Greetings Awakened Ones!

Just an FYI, I am trying to post via email; I pray this works.

What a great class last night, plenty of good sharing.  Remember we are about unveiling, uncovering all of who we are, so i truly appreciate your willingness to open up and share your insights about your self honestly!  This fits right in with today's lesson "how do you see yourself"?

Hmmm, I think this is also what she calls "circling and landing", meaning this is going to be a repeated theme here.  This makes sense since we are about becoming self aware!

The questions for the day are:
.  What qualities do you most value about yourself?
.  What qualities do you most want to claim and express?
.  What makes you feel most alive?
.  What habits or patterns are you ready to leave behind?
.  Does anything hold you back from being fully yourself?

These are great self reflective questions.  She suggests that we reflect upon them and the share with a trusted friend.  Well, you now have a "Truth in Action" partner to share with so let's do it.  I would also suggest journaling so you can see yourself and let your deeper thoughts be revealed.

Look deep and, Wake Up!

Where to start

Greetings Awakened Ones!

Well, it seems I am being tested. Once again I previously wrote a great blog and again it did not post. I am forced to look at my responses when things do not unfold as I expected or, I have to repeat the same lessons over and over. Clearly some self reflection is needed.

Self knowledge is key if we truly desire enlightenment! Our reading for today is titled "Where to start" and we are provided with ten (10) powerful action steps. They are:

Observe your impact on other people, listen carefully to your stories, know what your strengths are, find out what matters to you, notice what makes you happy, notice what affect a your moods negatively, experience how much you can learn from your mistakes, let yourself learn from other people, get to know the contents of your inner world, and last but not least, assume there is always more to know!

Self Awareness is key! Now is the time to more deeply see ourselves. I emphasize the word deeply because we may have a tendency to stay on the surface of things, but enlightenment requires a deeper knowing so that one can consciously choose.

Here is the work, do the reading and then Journal
about these questions!

In addition, the question for today is:
. What did I learn about myself today?

See you in class tonight. Blessings and Wake Up!

What you pay attention to grows stronger in your life!

Greetings Awakened Ones!

A few minutes ago I wrote and posted what I thought was a great piece on today's message and it disappeared when I posted it. My first reaction was, "you gotta be kidding me"! (that's putting it mildly). But then after accepting that it was gone, never to return again, and that I was simply going to have to rewrite the message, I got peaceful. There is something to this "accepting what is", and the more we do it, the more peace we will experience!

I wonder if we really know what energy magnets we are and how much we really can influence our lives by what we say, think, feel and believe, repetitively!
Repetition is the key! It is how things manifest in your life. So, it is vital to be conscious of what is running through your mind, consistently.

Our theme for today says, "what you pay attention to grows stronger in your life". Wow! That can be good or that can be scary depending on what you are paying attention to or dwelling upon.

The Questions for today are:
. What did you pay attention to yesterday? Can you identify your predominant thoughts and how you felt?

. What type of seeds are you sowing in the garden of your mind and life?

. What does personal growth have to do with happiness?

ACTION STEP for today:
. Observe what you are paying attention to throughout your day.

Yes, I know this consciousness stuff takes energy and focus but that is a small price to pay for Enlightenment, Grace, Peace, and Happiness!

Be Blessed and Wake Up!
Rev. Sylvia

Just testing!

This is just a test. I am having a slight challenge getting the posting out today. Let's pray this goes through. If it does, is will post Again with the real message for the day.

Your Life is Your Message

Greetings Friends,

What a great day this is! It is the first day of the rest of your life! How will you live your life today? Consciously or on auto pilot? Remember, every thought, every choice, every action becomes a part of who you are; how you are showing up in the world. And the great part is, we can have a say in the direction of our lives.

So the Questions for the day are:
. What is your life saying about you? What is the message people will glean from how you are showing up?
. How are you guiding yourself to what is possible for your life?
. How are you affecting and influencing the environment around you?

Remember to journal daily as it will begin the allow your superconscious and subconscious mind to reveal the deeper musings of your mind!

Let's talk....and Wake Up!!!

Every day is a new day

Greetings Friends!

So, since we have a sense of our purpose in life, it would seem that we should then also have a strong sense of self; we should know what it is we want to do; what we stand for and what we value

So, our questions for today are:

. Do your know what you stand for? Or what your values and principles are?
. What would you do with your life today if you weren't afraid of failure?
. What are you doing to maintain or develop a strong inner sense of self?

Let's talk,

Everything You Need

Greetings Friends,

As we start our journey into self awareness and mastery, we must begin to not only trust in God, but also in ourselves. We must come to know that we have everything we need to do whatever is ours to do!

THE QUESTIONS FOR TODAY ARE:
. Do you have a purpose in life? What is it?
. Do you believe that you have all the strengths and qualities that you need and what are they?
. What is it that prevents you from putting forth your best and your highest?

Let's talk!

Good Morning Beloved Ones!

This is the first day of our course on "Life Mastery - Preparing for 2012". We are working with the book "Choosing Happiness". You will be able to purchase the book in class tonight.

With all of the dire predictions and the doom and gloom surrounding 2012, what positive approach can we adopt for ourselves? What is it that we can do to help ourselves awaken and be more spiritually conscious? We might as well be happy!

True happiness is not existing in LaLa Land, it is finding that inner realm of Peace, Joy, connectedness with others and life in general.

So our questions for today are:
.How do you know when you are happy?
.Close your eyes for a moment, think of a time when you were happy - how did it make you feel mentally, physically, emotionally?
.If you were just given a million dollars, what is the first thing you would do towards enhancing your happiness?

Remember, the theme for today is, "Trust yourself as a source of happiness"
Looking forward to hearing your answers. Don't forget to Blog with me!
