The Cult of the Individual

Good Day Lovelies!

Me, Myself, and I, which one shall I serve? Well even though it is about us, it is not always about us! The best way to serve us is often times by serving others.

When reach beyond ourselves and touch or connect with others with love, an amazing thing happens, we expand! We are filled with more love, more energy, more joy, more of God's Goodness.

Our author says, "Our happiness depends upon how we treat other people; it's just that simple." so true! Don't you feel terrible when you have had an argument with someone, or treated the unfairly, or were just in conflict? Negative interactions don't feel good, plain and simple; and the opposite is also true, positive and loving actions feel wonderful!

So...why not treat everyone with loving kindness, (even those you don't care for).

Action Step: Perform at least one act of kindness today!

Our questions for the day are:
. How do you care for others in your life?
. What was the last act of kindness you engaged in?
. What do you feel when you serve others?

Make it a kind and generous day, give of yourself!

  1. It has taken me a very long long time to get this one but I find in my own life I care for others based on how well I care for myself. When I start my day by giving love, and inspiration to myself I find that I am loving life all over myself and that engages people who sometimes want to know why I am so happy all of the time, and then there are those who tell me my bliss "peeves" them off. No one can be this happy all the time. So I ask them to try it. Start the day by loving yourself into the day you have. I do this by walking, meditating and getting myself in the state I want to be in to engage my day. That means I create the day the day does not create me. I ask GOD in my meditation every morning What would you have me do? And GOD will deliver the kindness He wishes me to preform, So everyday. This morning I bought coffee for a Woman Captain in the United States Army and I thanked her for her service and commitment for keeping us free. At the end of the day before I go to be I ask GOD How did I do? Did I do something today that would represent my relationship with HIM and did I show the best side of HIM thru me. This keeps me in the state of Giving and Contribution by simply Starting my day with GOD, nothing can jack you up when you do that, and if for some reason you do get jacked up, all you have to do is returning to the feeling you started the day with, and put GOD back in charge of your thinking. Our best lessons come when we ask the appropriate questions.

  2. When I serve others I feel so alive, just seeing the greatfulness even if they never say it. I continue to learn daily how to give of myself and treat others well. The last act of kindness that I remmber is calling someone I missed seeing in a while and the joy I heard in her voice to know someone had noticed and missed her made my day. Blessings!

  3. I try to care for others by tuning in to any opportunity that Spirit provides to serve someone, may the person be friend, family, or someone that I meet for the first time. Each time that I successfully hear the prompt from Spirit I do consider it an opportunity to do or say something within my ability, that will uplift another soul. When this happens, I also am uplifted. I pray daily for the opportunity to present itself, because it feels really good.

My last act of loving kindness was a special hug I shared with a favorite waiter who was leaving a restaurant that I frequent for brunch after Church on Sunday's. I surprised him and he responded with one of the warmest hugs that I have ever received. This much I know to be true, when you let your heart guide your actions you can never go wrong.

  4. I believe I am a loving, random acts of kindness kind of person. The way I care for others is seeing the need, being present and not really having to be asked to serve – I speak with love, I listen intently and I engage in life with others. My challenge is that sometimes I am too engaged in serving others.

From a little girl, service was a core value instilled in all of us –there wasn’t even a thought about not being of service – whether it was in the church or at the hospital or with people who were not as fortunate, it was all about being of service. From then to today, I receive just as much pleasure giving as the recipients may feel receiving – maybe more.

  5. There is no question that serving/helping others conjures up deep feelings of pride and gladness. Karmic attraction is a philosophical concept in which I believe strongly; and if one has an ounce of caring, they’ve experienced uplifting and enhanced happiness by doing something for someone else. But, the revelation is that the author claims our happiness simply "depends" on how we treat other people. Maybe my issue is one of semantics or perception...

  6. I believe our purpose is to manifest God through us and to serve each other as we move toward that goal. I believe in the power of random acts of kindness. I feel a sense of oneness when I serve others. My challenge is to do so with humility.

I think caring for others is different from committing an act of kindness. Care implies a greater commitment. Maybe not always sacrifice but selflessness. I struggle to adapt this posture by dulling my sharp tongue and by listening with an open heart.

Again my greatest challenge is to approach the way I treat myself with the same deliberateness.
