A Betrayal of Values

God Day Beloveds!

I bet it is safe to say that all of us have felt the sting of betrayal in our lives. Someone we trusted violated our confidence, talked about us behind our back, was inappropriate with someone we love, set us up in some way. It happens, and while it happens in various degrees, it hurts none the less.

Our author says, "When you have assumed that you shared values with someone close to you, maybe someone who shared your life in an intimate way, and those values are betrayed, this causes suffering of quite a different order".

Our questions for today are:
. When was the last time you felt betrayed and how did you handle it?
. Have you ever betrayed someone? What was going on within you ?

So, honesty is the name of the game today!

Be Blessed,
Rev. Sylvia

  5. Over the holidays, I shared a flight to SFO with a passenger who disliked the fact LeBron James joined the Miami Heat. His attack centered on how LeBron James bowed out from the Cavaliers and Cleveland . I asked him “Do you know why he left?” This man replied gently “no”. “Betrayal” I said. Every player on this team except LeBron knew his young teammate had slept with his older mother during the NBA 2010 season. The team waited until the NBA play off games to share the bad news. This was a violation of trust among players.
Nevertheless, he profited from this ugly situation like a “King” and forged a new team relationship with Miami Heat to further his NBA goals.
In comparison to my life - It’s hard to cast the first stone on the topic of betrayal . …but when you assume shared values with a person on a intimate level, it cuts deep on the first time.

Like King LaBron James, I started to figure out how to best learn from this situation and carryon with my life goals. Others may not like how I decided to handle it. Its ok.

Because I have betrayed shared values in my past, I have understanding and know that one can recommit to his values and/or shared values.
